I~!~/~TM. ~ . ~'~ <br /> ~ TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1990 <br /> <br />Mr. Geisler noted that there are-advantages to constructing the <br />entire facility at once, such as. lower construction costs and the <br />possibility that the State may be unable to fund 50% of the cost of <br />regional jails at some point in the future. Also. in response to a <br />question by Councilman Oakes, Mr. Geisler stated that the funding <br />from the State for operational costs for a regional jail would <br />remain the same as it currently is for the local jails. <br /> <br />Patrick County Administrator David Hoback and some members of the <br />Patrick County Board of Supervisors arrived atthis point in the <br />meeting (4:50 P.M.). <br /> <br />In response to.a question by Mr. Brown,.Mr. Koehler stated that the <br />pod concept for'the regional jail would allow for a prison farm <br />operation to be'continued with prisoners who would be eligible for <br />this type of incarceration arrangement. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded,.and by a unanimous vote, City~ouncil <br />and the Board of Supervisors moved to formally ask the Patrick <br />County Board of Supervisors if they want to participate in a <br />regional jail with Martinsville and Henry county. <br /> <br />Mr. Lintecum announced that a joi~t meeting between City Council <br />and the Board of Supervisors had been scheduled for October 22, <br />1990 to furtherlconsider the emergency medical services needs for <br /> <br />the City and County. ~. ~. - <br /> <br /> <br />
