TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1990 <br />Councilman Williams complimented the'..Public Works Department on the <br /> <br />quarterly clean-up effort. <br /> <br />Councilman Williams noted the presence of traffic in the West End <br />area in the late evening hours and implied that much of. it may be <br />due to drug trafficking. ~ <br /> <br />Councilman Williams noted recent shootings in the City and stated <br />that the incidents could be a deterrent~ to people considering <br /> <br />moving to Martinsville. . !~ <br /> <br />Council decided to recess this meeting until 4:00P.M. <br /> <br />At 4:00 P.M., Council reconvened in the Council Chamber, with all <br /> <br />Councilmen present, for the purpose of holding ajoint meeting with <br /> <br />the Henry~County Board of supervisors to heara follow-up report <br /> <br />from the two localities' consultants regarding detention facilities <br /> <br />needs for Martinsville and Henry County. <br /> <br />Those in .attendance from Henry County were: Robert E. Scott, <br />Chairman; Simon C. Spencer, Vice-Chairman; R.J. Frye; S.E. Moran; <br />Robert L. Whitener, Jr.; and Francis E. Zehr' from ~he Board of <br />SupervisOrs. Also attending were Co Lee=Lintecum, Henry County <br />Administrator; Veronica Venable, Deputy. County Administrator; and <br />Dale McGhee,_County Attorney. <br /> <br /> <br />
