TUESDAY. SEPTEMBER 25. 1990 <br /> the ordinance, on first reading, with the understanding that the <br /> <br />change is to be reviewed at the end of six months as to its <br />effectiveness. Several members of Council questioned Chief of <br />Police Terry Roop, City Attorney David Worthy and Public Works <br />Director Leon Towarnicki regarding the current parking regulations. <br />Ms. Georgia Lee, owner of Holt's Dress Shop, recommended that the <br />entire Ordinance be rewritten and stated that many people misuse <br />the lot in .front of the Post Office on Church Street. Councilman <br />AdamsI moved that a modification to the ordinance as it was <br />presented to Council be made in order to clarify the location of <br />the lot in back of Jefferson Plaza. Councilman Oakes suggested <br />that the staff study the removal of the word~ "continuous" in <br />Section 12-82 of the Code. Upon motion, duly seconded, and by <br />unanimous vote, Council approved the ordinance on first reading <br />(with the modification proposed by Councilman Adams). ~' <br /> <br />Council considered endorsement of a Resolution adopted by the Drug <br />Task Force, Inc. of Martinsville and Henry~County, Mr. William Co <br />Cole, Jr., Chairman of the Drug Task Force, was present to urge <br />Council to support the Resolution. <br />following. statement~ <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br />Mayor McClain made the <br /> <br />It is with sincere regret that I must inform you that I <br />cannot vote to endorse the Resolution of the Drug Task <br />Force Opposing the Legalization of Drugs, here sponsored <br />by.~my .friend, Mayor Cole.
