In response to a question by Councilman <br />Oakes, Mr. Brown stated that the City had never received funds from <br />the Economic Development Administration in connection with its <br /> <br />OEDP. 'Councilman Oakes stated that he was concerned that the WPPDC <br /> <br />would be putting extra resources into this effort and yet would <br /> <br />"still receive no additional planning or project funds. Mayor <br /> <br />McClain stated that he was concerned that once Economic Development <br />DistriCt'designation was achieved, individuall0calities would not <br />be allowed to submit their own OEDP plans to the Economic <br />Development Administration. Upon motion, duly Seconded, and by a <br />vote of 3 "yes" (Groden, Adams and Willjams) and 2 "no" (Oakes and <br /> <br />~McClain)~ Council adopted the followingsresolution:'~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, improved economic conditions, including job <br /> · generation, ""jobs diversification, == and "~reduced <br /> unemployment, continue to be-a goal of the localities of <br /> the West Piedmont PlanningDistrict;and '=~' ·~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, localities in the West Piedmont Planning <br />District are eligible for funding through programs <br />administered by the Economic Development Administration; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration makes <br />its assistance available through designated economic <br />development districts; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the West Piedmont Planning' District Board of <br />Commissioners as an Economic Development DistrictIBoard <br />will require support of member localities in maintaining <br />appropriate membership on the Board of Commissioners; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on August 23, 1990, the West Piedmont Planning <br />'~District Board of Commissioners, with elected officials <br />from all member localities present, unanimously agreed to <br />pursue designation of the Planning District as an <br /> <br /> <br />
