460 <br /> <br /> FRIDAY,.SEPTEMBER 14o 1990 <br /> <br />Census figures in which Mr. Brown explained that cities could only <br />contest the Census Bureau's figures regarding the number of housing <br />units and expressed the concern that the Census was "flawed" in <br />under-counting persons living in multi-family housing units. Upon <br />motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, Council approved the <br />City Manager's request to advertise in the news media for citizens <br />who were not counted to call the Census Bureau's toll-free <br />telephone number in order to obtain a Census form. <br /> <br />Councilman Oakes mentioned that a tentative date had been set for <br />a joint meeting between the City Council and School Board for <br />November 2 at 11:00 A.M. at the Jefferson Plaza Cafe. <br /> <br />Councilman Williams asked the City Manager to investigate unsightly <br />conditions on Barton Street between Fayette and Church Streets. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br />(1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and carried <br />by a unanimous recorded vote, Council convened into Executive <br />Session for the purpose of discussing (1) appointments and/or <br />reappointments to the Industrial Development Authority, as <br />authorized by Subsection 1 of Section 2ol-344(A); and (2) a <br />personnel matter, as authorized by Subsection 1 of Section 2.1- <br />344(A).
