138, <br /> <br /> TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 1990 <br /> <br /> Council considered a matter regarding the possible upgrading or <br /> construction of new court facilities for Henry County. Mr. Brown <br /> said that Martinsville should be interested in maintaining the <br /> court facilities within the City because of its close proximity to <br /> the-City's court facilities and because of the convenience it <br /> <br />offers to citizens, judges, and attorneys. Therefore, it would be <br />appropriate for the Mayor to convey, in the form of a lettertothe <br />Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Council's willingness to <br />assist~theBoard of Supervisors in any way possible in this matter. <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council <br />authorized the Mayor to write such a letter. <br /> <br />Council considered petitions by adjacent property owners for <br />construction of curb and gutter on a shared-cost basis along the <br />following streets: 1) both sides of New York Avenue between <br />Overland Ridge Avenue and the end of the street; and 2) both sides <br />of Overland Ridge Avenue between Smith Street and New York Avenue. <br />Mr. Brown ~recommended that Council place the requests on file for <br />future consideration in the event some of the projects included in <br />the FY90-91 Budget?cannot be implemented for various reasons or <br />that they be considered for inclusion in the FY91-92 Budget, as the <br />petitions were submitted after approval of the current budget. In <br />response to aquestion by Councilman Oakes, Mr. Brown reported that <br />the City's policy with regard to the. amount of financial <br />participation on the part of property owners for shared-cost curb <br /> <br /> <br />
