Mr. Hunter said the goal of the <br /> <br />Study was toassure that the residents are provided with acceptable <br />levels of prehospital emergency medical care. The objectiveof the <br /> <br />study was to determine whether City and County residents are <br /> <br />provided with acceptable levels of prehospital emergency medical <br /> <br />care, and if not, provide recommendations in order to assure <br /> <br />achievement.of this~goal. <br /> <br />Mr. Hunter then began a review of the study.report. He stated that <br />the.quality of care provided by the rescue squads varied greatly <br />depending on=time of day and day of the week due to. variances in <br />the staffing .of the rescue squads. RevieWing the response= times <br />of~the rescue squads, Mr. Hunter reported that the average time <br />from the reporting of a call to arrival on the scene by the rescue <br />squads averaged around 12-13 minutes. <br /> <br />In reviewing the rosters of the rescue squads,.the consultants <br />found 157 persons listed as volunteers. Mr. Hunter stated .that in <br />order~to provide~for 2-person crews at all4 rescue squad stations, <br />24~hours per day, 365 days per year, the squads would need <br />approximately 88.more volunteers. In order=to provide for a 3 <br />person crew at each station, there exists a deficit of 180 <br /> <br />volunteers. <br /> <br /> <br />
