TUESDAY, MAY 22, 1990 <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, . Council <br />scheduled a public hearing to consider appointees for the two <br />upcoming term expirations on the City's School Board for June 12, <br />1990. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly ~seconded, and by unanimous vote, Council adopted <br />the following resolution authorizing the Martinsville-Henry County <br />Clean Community Commission to apply for and administer. a grant on <br />behalf of. the City: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsvilie, <br /> Virginia, recognizes the existence of a litter problem <br />~within the boundaries of the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia Waste Managemen~ Act provides, <br />through the Virginia Department of Waste Management, <br />Division of Litter Control and Recycling, for the <br />allocation of public funds in the form of Grants for the <br />purpose of enhancing local litter control programs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, having reviewed and considered the Regulations <br />and the Application covering administration and use of <br />said funds; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />Martinsville, Virginia, as follows, that it: <br /> <br />City of <br /> <br />Hereby endorses and supports such a program for <br />the City of Martinsville; and <br /> <br />Hereby expresses the intent to combine with <br />Henry County and the Town of Ridgeway in a <br />mutually agreed upon and Cooperative Program, <br />contingent upon the approval of the Application. <br />by the Virginia Department of Waste Management, <br />Division of Litter Control and Recycling, and <br />contingent upon receipt of funds; and <br /> <br />Further authorizes the Martinsville-Henry <br />County Clean Community Commission to apply on <br />behalf of all of the above-named localities for <br />a Grant, and to be responsible for the <br />administration, implementation, and completion <br /> <br /> <br />
