APRIL 30, 1990 <br /> <br />Upon motion,. duly. seconded, and by unanimous vote: Council granted <br />tentative approval to the budget request of the Virginia Museum of <br />Natural History in the amount of $22,000. Dr. Michael Hager was <br /> <br />. present to make the request and gave a report on the present and <br /> future plans of. the museum. Dr. Hager stated that the Museum would <br /> have37-=- full-time-employees 'by the end of May, 1990, and that the <br /> Museum should increase its level of services to the community in <br /> the.:next..fiscal year. In response to a question by-Vice-Mayor <br /> Williams, Dr. Hager stated that the Museum would look to the City <br /> for permanent support, and that in return for that, the Museum has <br /> a $2.4 million budget which. is spent almost entirely within the <br /> 'City;of. Martinsville and that ,the Museum is making a valuable <br /> .contribution · to both Martinsville and Henry County. - Councilman <br /> Cole commended Dr. Hager for his leadership of: the Museum;:' Mayor <br /> Oakes stated. that he was very excited about the Museum and-that he <br /> felt the-City was not taking full advantage o'f its =-tourism <br /> potential <br /> <br /> t ....... ' ·, -- .! · <br /> <br /> Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote Council granted <br /> tentative approval to .the budget request of Piedmont, Emergency <br /> Medical Services in the amount of $1,656.
