TUESDAY, APRIL 10, 1990 <br /> <br />In response to a question by Councilman Cole regarding the status of the <br />joint.City/CQunty study of emergency medical services, City Manager Brown <br />explained that in response to a request that paramedics be added to the <br />rescue squads and in response to problems noted in manning the squads dur- <br />ing daytime.= hours, both Council and the Henry County Board of Supervisors <br />authorized that a study be conducted, An RFP was then issued, m~d a con- <br />sultant was eventually selected. The consultant has been working with a <br />committee consisting of the City Manager, County Administrator, a repre- <br />sentative from the rescue squads, and other staff as needed. The study is <br />currently being edited and should be finalized in the near future. <br /> <br />UPon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous vote,I Council adopted the <br />following resolutions approving requests by the Martinsville School Board <br />to file two applications for loans from the Literary Fund of Virginia: <br /> <br />(1)~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at a meeting of the City Council for the City <br />of Martinsville, Virginia., held in said City on the <br />10th day of April,'1990; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the School Board for the City of Martinsville <br />presented to.· this Council an application addressed to <br />the State Board of Education of Virginia for the <br />purpose of borrowing from the Literary Fund $175,750 <br />for the purpose of asbestos abatement, Phase I-A, and <br />the interest thereon at percent paid annually; <br />now therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the application of the City School <br />Board to the State Board of Education of Virginia for <br />a loan of $175,750 from the Literary Fund is hereby <br />approved, and authority is hereby granted the said <br />City· School Board to borrow the said amount for the <br />purpose set out in said application; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville will each year during the life of this <br />loan, at the time they fix the regular levies, fix a <br /> <br /> <br />
