Oakes requested that <br /> <br />THURSDAY, APRIL 5, 1990 <br /> <br />this matter be placed on a future Council <br /> <br />agenda <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />consideration- <br /> <br />Following questions by various Councilmen, Mr. Brown reportedon the status of <br />the sewer "buy back" from the P.S.A. That buy back is now expected. to cost <br />$3.2~ million, however, because of certain unknowns it is not known what the <br />exact cost will eventually be. <br /> <br />Following a question by Mayor 0akes, Mr. Brown stated that the Budget did not <br />contain funds for asbestos removal, regionall jail facilities or landfill <br />consolidation. However, except for asbestos removal there are no expenditures <br />for these items anticipated during the current fiscal year~ . <br /> <br />In response to a question by <br />double bunking project for <br /> <br />CouncihnanMcClain, Mr. BroWn explained that the <br />the jail is anticiPated_to be completed in the <br /> <br />current fiscal year and that a status report on the project would· be placed on <br /> <br />the April 10, 1990, agenda. <br /> <br />Following questions by various Councilmen, <br /> <br />Mr. Brown <br /> <br />explained that employee <br /> <br />health insurance coverage was budgeted at $122 for the year. Finance Director <br />~Richard Fitts explained that this was an estimate based on anticipated in- <br />creases in premiums. The coverage provides for a $100 deductible for out- <br />patient services, $200 deductible per hospital admission, $650 maximum out-of- <br />pocket expenditures per person (3 to a family). Mr. Brown noted that there is <br />an effort underway to create an insurance pool for Virginia localities and that <br />'the City is ,following this closely and we will evaluate thiSinsurance alterna- <br />tive in terms of cost and benefits as compared to0ur current health insurance. <br /> <br /> <br />
