TUESDAY, MARCH 27, 1990 <br /> <br />28 <br /> <br />A regulaFsemi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />~Virginia, withIMayor L. D. Oakes presiding, was held Tuesday, March 27, 1990, <br />fin the'Council Chambers, City Hall, beginning at 7:00 P.M. All members of <br />Council were present, viz., L. D. Oakes, Mayor; Clyde L. Willjams, Vice-Mayor; <br /> <br /> William C. Cole, Jr.; Alfred T. Groden; and Allan McClain. <br /> <br /> After the invocation, followed by Mayor Oakes' cordial welcome to visitors, <br /> <br /> Council moved to the Circuit Courtroom to meet jointly with the Henry County <br /> <br />Board of Supervisors to hear a presentation by Joyce Engineering, Inc., consul- <br /> tants of a Solid Waste Management Study of the City's and County's solid waste <br /> disposal needs. <br /> <br /> Those in attendance from Henry County were: Robert E. Scott, Chairman; Simon <br /> C. Spencer, Vice-Chairman; R. J. Frye; Robert L. Whitenet, Jr.; and Frm~cis E. <br /> Zehr from the Board of Supervisors. Also attending were C. Lee Lintecum, Henry <br /> County Administrator; Veronica M. Venable, Deputy County Administrator; Dale <br /> McGhee, County Attorney; and William Turner, Director of Planning & Community <br /> Development. <br /> <br />Immediately prior to the Consultant's report on Solid Waste Management, tlenry <br />County Sheriff James Rogers and Martinsville Chief of Police Terry L. Roop <br />presented a plaque to Mrs. Owen Hall ~xd her family in recognition of her <br />husband's service to the community and law enforcement in his position as a <br />reporter for Radio Station WMVA. It was noted that Mr. Hall's recent death was <br />a great loss to the City and County. <br /> <br /> <br />
