It was noted that we need to get past <br /> <br />· smalls. items and get on with the big things going on in our community and to <br /> <br />plan ~ordingly~ ' <br /> <br />Se+eral members of!Council observed that when amatter is referred back to the <br /> <br />Planning Commission, it doesn't mean the Commission has to change their recom- <br /> <br />mendation, just take another look at the situation and report back to Council. <br /> <br />Both the Council"and Commission noted that the other body was welcome to come <br /> <br />to their meetings and speak freely on any matter. <br /> <br />Mayor 0akeS noted that we need to be looking to 'the future as to commercial, <br />industrial and residential development in the City. We all need to.be involved <br />and work together in order to see orderly growth that is beneficial to our <br />citizensas well as local government. There are some important issues to be <br />addressed., including legislation affecting annexation rights, the possibility <br />oftoral or partial merger or consolidation with Henry County, detention <br /> <br />· facilities_, solid'waste disposal, transportation needs, etc. <br /> <br />I~' was stated that a review would be made of the Comprehensive Plan to deter- <br />mine if a major update is needed and whether it can be updated in-house with <br />the assistance of the West Piedmont Planning District Commission or by a <br />consultant. <br /> <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />aws~on c~ting~Clerk of Council <br /> <br /> <br />
