TUESDAY, MARCH 6, 1990 <br /> <br />A duly-called. special joint meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, and the MartinSville Planning Commission was held Tuesday, March 6, <br />1990, at the Jefferson Plaza Care, beginning at 12:00 Noon, for the purpose of <br />discussing matters of mutual concern as it relates to the City government. All <br />members of Council were present, viz., L. D. 0~{es, Mayor; Clyde L. Williams, <br />Vice-Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr.; Alfred T. Groden; and Allan McClain, along <br />with City Manager George W. Brown and City Attorney David B. Worthy. <br /> <br />All memberSof the Martinsville Planning Commission were present, except for <br />Julius Murrell who was sick and Earle W. Greene who was out of town, viz., <br />James H. Ford, Chairman; George B. Adsms, Jr.; Shelton It. Blackwell, Jr.; <br />George C. Cox; Ben F. Gray; Ann W. Marks; m~d Robert Willjams, along with City <br />Planner/Zoning AdmtniseratOr'Kevin B. Reed'. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes called the meeting to order and expressed appreciation to the <br />Planning Commission for their work in planning for the City. The Mayor noted <br />that it would be good for the Council m~d Planning Commission to meet annually <br />to review past activities and discuss future growth of the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes asked about the status of the revisions to the City's .Zoning <br /> <br />Ordinance. Chairman James Ford noted that the Pl~u~ning Commission had been <br />working on revisions to the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Ordinance. The <br /> <br />Zoning Ordinance should be ready soon for a public hearing, following which a <br /> <br />recommendation would be made to the Council. b'tle noted that the recent request <br />by Council to consider further the inclusion of a two-acre minimum requirement <br />for the development of townhouse units had been considered amd was included in <br />the revision.
