TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 1990 <br /> <br />accumulation of annual leave up to 60 days. It was noted the City's Employee <br />Manual does not address matters related to the City Manager's employment. It <br />was noted that contracts between City Council and the City Manager setting <br />forth the City Manager's conditions of employment are very prevalent throughout <br />the country. <br /> <br />The following comments were made by various Councilmen: <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Willjams commended Councilman Cole and his Drug Group <br />on the success of their recent Drug Rally and all the work <br />involved. Mayor Oakes also expressed appreciation to Councilman <br />Cole and urged everyone to support their efforts. <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Williams asked that the Martinsville High School <br />Wrestling Team be recognized by the Council as we have recognized <br />the football and basketball teams in the past. It was noted that <br />the Wrestling Team was undefeated this season and would be going <br />to State competition, following which the Council would invite <br />them to attend a meeting and a resolution would be adopted and <br />presented to them. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes stated that he and the City Manager had recently met <br />with Robert Scott, Ch,qirman of ltonry County Bo.qrd of Suporvt.qor.q, <br />and Lee Lintecum, ttenry County Administrator, and would continue <br />to meet with them periodically to discuss areas of mutual <br />interest· <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes noted his concern with several shooting incidents in <br />the City recently· <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as <br />amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded <br />vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purpose of considering <br />(1) a real estate matter, as authorized by Subsection 3; and (2) a personnel <br />matter related to the Clerk of Council and City Manager, as authorized by <br />Subsection 1 (It is noted that the Acting Clerk of Council was excused from <br />this portion of the Executive Session). At the conclusion of this Executive <br />Session, Council reconvened into regular session wherein, by a recorded vote, <br /> <br /> <br />
