TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 1990 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor L. D. oakes presiding, was held Tuesday,' February 13, <br />1990, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, beginning at 9:30 A.M. All members <br />of Council were present, except for Councilman Alfred T. Groden who was out of <br />town, viz., L. D. Oakes, Mayor; Clyde L. Willjams, Vice-Mayor; William C. Cole, <br />Jr.; and Allan McClain. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor Oakes' cordial welcome to visitors, <br />Council approved the minutes of its regular meeting held January 23, 1990, as <br />submitted. ~ <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted a Resolution, <br />as follows, honoring Mr. W. HollYday Yeaman for his service to the City as <br />Clerk of Council for the past forty-six years (December 15, 1944 to January 1, <br />i990). Mayor Oakes expressed appreciation for Mr. Yeaman's service and wished <br /> <br />him well during his retirement. Mr. Yeamanwas not present, being out-of-town. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. W. H. Yeaman has served as Clerk of City Council from <br />December 15, 1944 to January 1, 1990; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during these forty- years he has carried out the functions <br />of the position of Clerk of Council in an effective and efficient <br />manner; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS,.it is the desire of the Council of the City of Martinsville <br />to recognize his outstanding service to the Council and the City of <br />Martinsville; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular session assembled this thirteenth day of February, 1990, <br />that Council does hereby acknowledge with appreciation Mr. Yeaman's <br />devoted and loyal service to the City Council and the citizens of <br />Martinsville; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Council extends their best wishes to <br />Mr. Yeaman for a long and enjoyable retirement from public service. <br /> <br /> <br />
