TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 1990 A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor L. D. oakes presiding, was held Tuesday,' February 13, 1990, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, beginning at 9:30 A.M. All members of Council were present, except for Councilman Alfred T. Groden who was out of town, viz., L. D. Oakes, Mayor; Clyde L. Willjams, Vice-Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr.; and Allan McClain. After the invocation, followed by Mayor Oakes' cordial welcome to visitors, Council approved the minutes of its regular meeting held January 23, 1990, as submitted. ~ Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted a Resolution, as follows, honoring Mr. W. HollYday Yeaman for his service to the City as Clerk of Council for the past forty-six years (December 15, 1944 to January 1, i990). Mayor Oakes expressed appreciation for Mr. Yeaman's service and wished him well during his retirement. Mr. Yeamanwas not present, being out-of-town. WHEREAS, Mr. W. H. Yeaman has served as Clerk of City Council from December 15, 1944 to January 1, 1990; and WHEREAS, during these forty- years he has carried out the functions of the position of Clerk of Council in an effective and efficient manner; and WHEREAS,.it is the desire of the Council of the City of Martinsville to recognize his outstanding service to the Council and the City of Martinsville; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled this thirteenth day of February, 1990, that Council does hereby acknowledge with appreciation Mr. Yeaman's devoted and loyal service to the City Council and the citizens of Martinsville; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Council extends their best wishes to Mr. Yeaman for a long and enjoyable retirement from public service.
