TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 1989 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor L. D. Oakes presiding, was held Tuesday, October 10, 1989, <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members of <br />Council were present, lviz., L. D. Oakes, Mayor; Clyde L. Willjams, Vice-Mayor; <br />William C. Cole, Jr.; Alfred T. Groden; and Allan McClain. <br /> <br />After the invocation and Mayor Oakes' cordial welcome extended to visitors <br />present, recognized Delegate W. Roscoe Reynolds who was filling in for City <br />Attorney David B. Worthy, Council unanimously approved--as recorded--the <br />minutes of its regular meeting held September 26, 1989. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman McClain, seconded by Councilman Groden, and unanimous <br />approval, Janice Lawson was appointed as Acting Clerk of Council in the absence <br />of W. H. Yeaman who was out sick. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman McClain, seconded by Councilman Cole, and by <br />unanimous approval of Council, a public hearing was set for Council's October <br />24, 1989, meeting to consider a request by Ms. JuliAnn Adams and Landmark Home <br />Builders to rezone several lots on the east side of Brookdale Street (for a <br />depth of approximately 350 feet) from the existing M-2 Industrial Distict line <br />south of Fisher Street to Independence Drive from R-9 Residential to C-1A <br />Commercial. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman McClain, seconded by Councilman Cole, and by <br />unanimous approval of Council, a public hearing was set for Council's October <br />24, 1989, meeting to consider a request by the Planning Commission to amend the <br /> <br /> <br />
