For each minute of waiting time $0.20 <br /> <br />There shall be no charge for extra passengers or handbags. <br /> <br />After receiving a comparison of estimated revenue with current revenue from <br />some ten local businesses operating as short-term rental businesses, as <br />prepared by 'Commissioner of the Revenue Jo Ronnie Minter, Council adopted <br />Ordinance No. 89-9 to amend the City's Business-Professional-Occupational <br />License Tax Ordinance and Ordinance No. 89-10 to amend City Code Chapter 21 to <br />effect new and/or revised regulations applicable to short-term rental <br />businesses operating in Martinsville, which ordinances were introduced and <br />placed on first reading by Council at its recent August 22nd meeting. Upon <br />motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Ordinance No. 89-9 was adopted, <br />effective January 1, 1990, whereas, upon motion, duly seconded, Ordinance No. <br />89-10 was adopted by a three-to-one vote, Mayor Oakes voting against this <br />motion in order to register his preference that a local tax of 1% be imposed, <br />as previously proposed; however, the adopting motion provided for a local tax <br /> <br />of 1/2% on such business operations/receipts, effective January 1, 1990. The <br />adopted and amending ordinances follow: <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> Virginia~ in regular session assembled on September 12, 1989, that <br /> the City's Business, Professional, Occupational License Tax <br /> Ordinance, 1983, be amended by adding Section 4. Short-Term Rental <br /> Business to Article III, as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
