108 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JULY 25, 1989 <br /> <br />facility must be constructed on the site still obtains, otherwise the City has <br />the right to purchase the property for $282,000.00 but must exercise that right <br />within thirty days following the title exchange. <br /> <br />As a result of Councilman Cole's recent inquiry, City Manager Brown presented a <br />status report, as prepared by Mrs. Judy D. Robertson, the City's Personnel <br />Operations Supervisor, on the City's Employee Suggestion Program, noting that, <br />since the beginning of the program in 1987, a.total of five suggestions have <br />been submitted by City employees, with one of these five suggestions having <br />been made by Mrs. Robertson and having been approved, for which she was <br />rewarded the maximum of $25.00. The report described the purpose of the <br />program, types.of suggestions deemed eligible or ineligible for consideration, <br />employee eligibility requirements, the method of processing suggestions, and <br />the amounts of monetary awards for approved suggestions (being a maximum of <br />$25.00 for accepted suggestions with intangible benefits and a maximum of <br /> <br />$75.00 for accepted suggestions with tangible benefits. <br /> <br />City Manger Brown informed Council that it appears that financial participation <br />by owners of properties within the proposed Streetscape Project along Fayette <br />Street is not forthcoming to the extent of the required $23,000.00 and, <br />consequently, that project may have to be cancelled; however, Council withheld <br />cancellation pending consultation by Vice~1ayor Willjams with the project <br />committee and/or property owners and his report of findings thereon. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of subsections A. 1 and A. 3 of Section 2ol-344 of <br />the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion~ duly seconded and <br />unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive <br />Session for the purposes of considering (1) nominees for membership on the <br /> <br /> <br />
