TUESDAY, JUNE 27, 1989 <br /> <br />Mr. Ray W. Brodie (who elected not to be reappointed), and appointed Mr. John · <br />Lloyd Gregory, retired City Fire Chief, to succeed Mr. Brodie as a member of <br />this committee, for one-year terms beginning July 1, 1989; and (2) reappointed <br />Mr. Ronald M. Stone and appointed Messrs. Stephen R. Draper and Eugene Medley <br />to membership on the Commercial Development Commission for three-year terms <br />beginning July 1, 1989. <br /> <br />Unscheduled matters brought to Councii's attention consisted of the following: <br /> <br />An inquiry from--and comments by--Councilman Groden pertain- <br />ing to recent instances in which utility bills rendered by <br />the City's Utility Billing Division have been on an <br />"estimated" basis, with City Manager Brown being requested to <br />consider this practice and report to Council thereon; <br /> <br />B. A request, as relayed by Councilman Cole, for an additional <br /> street-light on Dundee Lane; <br /> <br />C. Councilman ~.~cClain's notice that he will be absent from <br /> Council's forthcoming July llth meeting; and <br /> <br />An announcement by City Manager Brown of the resignation of <br />Mr. Steven L. Compton as the City's Purchasing Agent, <br />effective July 7, 1989, noting that Mr. Compton has accepted <br />the position of Purchasing Agent for a private firm in north- <br />east Virginia. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W. ~~k of Council <br /> <br /> <br />
