TUESDAY, APRIL 25, 1989 <br /> <br />been depleted, as have ·allocations for certain other projects in which the <br />State is involved. Even so, Council concurred with Mayor Oakes' request that <br />Mr. Brown study the situation and recommend to Council ways and means by which <br />a traffic signal can be financed and installed at the Market-Bridge Street <br />intersection and, perhaps, at other hazardous intersections now without traffic <br />signals. <br /> <br />Complying with the requirements of subsections A. 1 and A. 3 of Section 2.1-344 <br />of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded <br />and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive <br />Session for the purposes of (A) considering nominees for (1) appointment to the <br />Technical Advisory Committee of the West Piedmont Planning District Commission <br />(to replace Mr. Pat Ephraim, who is no longer eligible to represent the City <br />thereon because of change of residency), (2) appointment to the Martinsville- <br />Henry County Clean Community Commission, (3) appointment or reappointment to <br />the City's Board of Appeals, and (4) appointment to the ANCHOR Commission to <br />succeed Dr. Larry Kellogg, who will soon be leaving Martinsville and the City <br />School System for a position elsewhere; (B) a real estate matter, i.e., the <br />possible selling of City-owned right-of-way residuals at Bridge and Market <br />Streets, for which bids were invited; and (c) a personnel matter. At the <br />conclusion of this Executive Session, Council reconvened into regular session <br />and unanimously took the following actions on several of the matters considered <br />in Executive Session: <br /> <br /> 1. Appointed·Mrs, Carolyn S. Beale, now a resident of <br /> Martinsville~to membership on the Martinsville-Henry County <br /> Clean Community Commission (on which Mrs. Beale has been <br /> serving, when residing in Henry County, as member- <br /> representative from Henry County) for a two-year term ending <br /> March 31, 1991; <br /> <br /> <br />
