The vote tentatively authorizing the requested appropriation <br />recorded Mayor Oakes, Vice-Mayor Wiliiams, and Councilman McClain as being in <br />favor of tentatively granting the request, whereas Councilmen Groden and Cole <br />abstained from voting but not without indicating first that they understand and <br />appreciate the value and benefits of the program. <br /> <br />Council next considered the Water ResourCeS Department's 1989-90 budget <br />requests, as presented by Water Resources Director John H. Dyches. Areas of <br />inquiry and discussion included a proposed $156,000 16' water main from the <br />water filtration plant to the Bethel Lane storage tanks, expanding the water <br />treatment capacity to 10MGD, increasing reliance upon the Leatherwood Creek <br />water supply source in Henry County, interest and investments and surcharges in <br />the Sewer Fund revenue budget, and a suggestion by Councilman McClain that <br />there is need to "re-think" ways and means of financing the City's cost of <br />constructing a sewer line from the City's Water Pollution Control Plant to the <br />Henry County Public Service Authority's sewage treatment plant downstream on <br />the Smith River, now under construction or soon to be under construction. <br /> <br />After reviewing the 1989-90 budget requests of the Housing Services Department <br />and the Purchasing-Stores Department, Council scheduled another special budget <br />work-session meeting for Thursday, April 20, 1989, beginning at 2:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W . ea <br /> · H Y Council <br /> <br /> <br />
