TUESDAY,-DECEMBER 17, 1991
Mr. Raymond Eaton, a resident of Henry County, expressed concern regarding
refuse from other counties (51 according to Mr. Eaton) being disposedof at
the proposed landfill. Mrs. Henderson also asked for a further explanation
regarding the 80 mile radius. Chambers explained the proposal by stating
that Chambers would accept no more than 1,000 tons of waste per day for the
first three years of operation at the facility and then 1,500 tons per day
maximum thereafter. The Chambers representative emphasized the fact that

there would be tonnage control.

Chad Henderson, a resident of 717 Clark Road, inquired whether the Chambers
facility would accommodate yard refuse. Chambers replied that it would
accept wood waste, which would be shipped in compost or chipped to give to
someone to burn.

Councilman Oakes asked Chambers what method would be used to charge someone
at the landfill in a pickup truck. Chambers stated that, generally,
individuals ar. en't charged by the ton, usually charged approximately $1.30 or
· $2.00 by the truck load, the bag or car. Chambers indicated that a
convenience center is planned at the landfill for individuals to use at no

charge.

Councilman Oakes asked Chambers to review the timing for this landfill and
how much time that they have to meet the 1994 commitment. Chambers replied
that if Council has not chosen 'their company by approximately January '15,
1992, Chambers will not be able to guarantee the City that the proposed
landfill will be opened by January 1, 1994. Chambers indicated that
presently they have an alternative site available in Amelia County which will
be open some time in the late summer of 1992, and would be in position to
accept the City's waste from its facility during the interim.period before
