P. Thomas Trucking property; (3) that he calls the City <br />Shop .frequently with complaints and it takes three weeks for response; (4) <br />that the Martinsville Bulletin refers to their area as the "West End"--he <br />prefers the term "West Martinsville"; (5) there is a drainage problem on <br />Second Street causing water in his yard; and (6) if you make improvements for- <br />recreational facilities in West Martinsville, do you plan to have better <br />supervision and is it necessary to have security there? <br /> <br />Veronica Collins, P. O. Box 99, expressed concern for the safety of children, <br />noting a need for policemen to walk the streets. <br /> <br />Malvester Dixon, .622 Watt Street, who operates a Record Store at 217 Fayette <br />Street, expressed concern about the time of day that City crews sweep the <br />street in front of his business. They usually come about Noon when cars are <br />parked on the street and he felt it would be better if they could do it early <br />in the morning before businesses open. He further stated that as a part <br />this community, the people must take responsibility for their own children <br />and not expect Council to be able to control them. <br /> <br />Arlene Porter, RivermontApartments, expressed several concerns: (1) for her <br />child's safety when ~alking from Albert Harris School to home because there <br />is no sidewalk; (2) that Rivermont Apartments has 100 units and probably 300 <br />children who need transportation because many, like her, do not have cars; <br />and (3) recently the City put a notice on the bulletin board at Rivermont <br /> <br /> <br />
