TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 1991 <br /> <br /> Attorney Worthy stated that the City could not bring suit to collect taxes' <br /> which were less than three years delinquent. Mr. Bouldin introduced <br /> Bernice.Smith as the new City Treasurer who will take office on October 1, <br /> 1991. <br /> <br /> Councilacknowledged a report on the results of the City's early retirement <br /> program as prepared by City Manager George Brown. Council asked Assistant <br /> City Manager Lance Heater (who will become Acting City Manager on October 1., <br /> <br /> 1991) to preparea more detailed report for submission to Council at a future <br />,.meeting. <br /> <br /> Councilman Oakes stated that he had received complaints regarding property <br /> located on.Sam Lions Trail which is owned by Roger Young and which is the <br /> locationof a. lagoon extending from Lake Laniero Mr. Heater stated that this <br /> i~sue had been discussed at the June 11, 1991 meeting of City Council and <br /> City staff had at that meetingsagreed to provide Mr. Young with engineering <br /> drawings which Mr. Young could use in having this problem corrected. ~!~r. <br /> Heater stated that this-had been done, but that no action to correct the <br /> problem had been taken by Mr. Young. Mr. Heater reported that Public Works <br /> Director.Leon Towarnicki had written a letter to Mr. Young dated September <br /> 24; .1991 requesting information on his plans for correcting the drainage <br /> <br />situation. <br /> <br />In response to a question by Vice-Mayor Groden, Finance Director Richard <br />Fitts stated that a special audit would be necessary in connection with the <br />retirement of Treasurer Jack Bouldin. Mr. Fitts stated that he did not have <br />an estimate of the additional costs which would be associated with the <br />specialaudit at this time, but that he would be obtaining such an estimate <br />in the near future° Several Councilman also requested that the City <br /> <br /> <br />
