CounciI~ t~eh~began a review of the
recommendedby the Planning Commission.

THURSDAY, · JULY 18., 199'1

proposed subdivision ordinance ' s

In response to a ~question by Mayor

McClain, Mr. Brown stated that the City Administration did not support the
Planning Commission's-proposal, mainly because he felt that the Commission's
version did not grant sufficient review authority to the agent of the
Planning Commission. Mr. Brown stated that he felt the administration of the
Subd~i~ision Ordinance should be done by the agent of the Council, with
requests for variances from the provisions of the Ordinance being.referred to
the Planning Commission. Mr. Brown said that the final decision ~on the
I'granting of variances should be made by City Council. Under the Current
Ordinance, the Planning Commission is charged with administering the
Ordinance and with!granting variances to the Ordinance. The "Administrative"
-Ordinance, as-prepared by the City Administration, would' establish the
· procedure-favored by Mr. Brown. In response to a question by Vice-Mayor

=Groden, Mr. Cox stated that the Commission felt that the current procedure
=whereby the Planning Commission is charged with the administration of the
'Ordinance has worked well and that this procedure should be continued in the
new Subdivision Ordinance. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote,
Council approved in concept the Administration's version of the Subdivision
Ordinance and asked that the draft Ordinance be modified to reflec~t~Ithis.'

Mayor McCIain then declared this meeting adjourned.

L . Heater, Clerk of Council
