Councilman Adams said <br /> that he had contacted officials of the State Department of Correct~i~ns to <br /> obtain information on recommended jail design and that Mr. Gene Johnson, <br /> Deputy Director of Adult Community Corrections, had sent materials to him <br /> regarding this matter. Councilman Adams stated that Mr. Johnson had said he <br /> was willing to come to Martinsville to speak with Council regarding this <br /> matter. Councilman Adams stated that he had also spoken to C. Lee Lintecum, <br /> Henry County Administrator, and Robert Scott'of the Board of Supervisors and <br /> that hefelt=.it may be time to "go back to square one" inthis study and. to <br /> examine a less expensive design. Mr. Brown said that he had asked the <br /> consultant to determine what changes may need to be made in the consultant's <br /> study as a result of the new law. Several members of Council stated that any <br /> further study on the part of the consultant should be solely at the <br /> consultant's expense. Mr. Brown said that he would report on this matterat <br /> the July 23, 1991 Council meeting. ~ <br /> <br /> Councilman Adams asked that the Clerk of Council send a copy of an article <br /> entitled "Breaking the Chain of Welfare Mothers" which is in the. June, 1991 <br /> edition. of Virginia Town and City to' the Director of Social Services, <br /> Chairman of the Social Services Board, and Director of the Office on Youth. <br /> <br /> Mayor McClain asked that a member of City staff attenda "town meetin~.~on a <br /> proposal for community systems of care and support for Virginia's troubled <br /> and at-risk youth and their families to be held in Roanoke on July 18. <br /> <br /> Mayor McClain then declared this meeting adjourned ~ · <br /> <br /> L .
