Mr. <br /> Clemo stated that the Resolution would not need to be changed to reflect the <br /> <br /> reduction in equipment expense, as the Resolution authorizes the Hospital to <br /> <br />"'issue bonds in an amount up to $5.2 million for this purpose. In response to <br /> a final question by Councilman Adams,'Mr. Williams explained that the bonds <br /> would be paid off from the future earnings of the Hospital. Councilman <br /> Williams stated that he had received many complaints from citizens regarding <br /> the Hospital and that he had referred those citizens to the Hospital <br /> administration and Board of Trustees. Councilman Williams commended the <br /> Hospital Administration for its recent addition of a Public' Relations <br /> Specialist to the Hospital staff. In response to a question by Councilman <br /> Oakes, Mr. Clyde Britt, Hospital Administrator, stated that persons who have <br /> problems with billing matters should contact Mr. Benjamin-'Shires-in the <br /> Business Office. - "-=~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Bruce Dallas, 211 Massey Street, appeared and made the following <br /> comments:' (1) that the Hospital was "insensitive" to individuals who had <br /> trouble paying their bills; (2) that the Hospital had over 1,500 judgments <br /> filed against those who owed them money in the last year; (3) that 20% ofthe <br /> individuals who had judgments or who had their wages garnishedas a result of <br /> owing money to the Hospital should have been placed in the "charity group"; <br /> (4) that people were "starving to death" in Martinsville and Henry County and <br /> could not pay their hospital bills; and (5) that the. Hospital was no longer <br /> owned by. thepeople of the community. Mr. Britt made the following comments <br /> in response-to Mr. Dallas: (1) that there had been no change in the <br /> Hospital's credit collection policy in many years; (2) that the Hospital is <br /> <br /> <br />
