Council <br />asked that a .follow-up report on this item be given after the June5, 1991 <br /> <br />deadline for payment of the second half of real estate taxes. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted $5,600.43 <br />as the Police Department's share of the proceeds from the Cops Vs. Coaches <br />Basketball Game and approved a supplemental appropriation in an equal amount <br />for the purchase of additional radio.equipment for the Department. Mayor <br />McClain 'suggested that thereneededtobe close coordination~ between the <br />proposed budget, the proceeds from the basketball game and two grant requests <br />recently approved by Council in which funds are being used to purchase radio <br />equipment. <br /> <br />Council considered authorizing the City Manager to execute on behalf of the <br />City the following documents in connection with the sale of the shell <br />building situated in the City's Industrial Park: (1) a deed from the City <br />conveying to the Commonwealth of Virginia (Virginia Department of <br />Transportation) a 60 foot industrial access right-of-way to serve the shell <br />building to be occupied. by Owens-Corning; and (2) a Quitclaim Deed-from the <br />City to Promote Martinsville-Henry. County, Inc. (local investor group) <br />conveying all interest, if any, that the City may have in Parcel"B" on which <br />the shell building is situated, plus an isolated strip of land 30 feet in <br />width and 297 feet in length lying between Parcel "B" and the Industrial <br />Access Road. Mr. Brown explained that these agreements needed to be executed <br />in order tocomplete the process of the sale of the shell building.
