TU'P..SD~Y, NOV'R:MBR~ 10, 1992 <br /> <br />Reynolds stated that he would 'i~vest'igate the lot, <br /> <br />Steven Raines, 125 Park Street, stated that a need existed for a <br />stoplight at Broad and Market streets. <br /> <br />Lafayette Jones, 501 Second Street, commended the City Police <br />Department for the fact that there "have been no black on black murders <br />since March". <br /> <br />Betsy Ashbrook, a professor at Patrick Henry Community College, stated <br />that she and two other nurses have begun the Piedmont Free Nursing <br />Clinic at St. Paul High Street Baptist Church each Thursday from 4-8 <br />P.M. She also stated that the community had a high probability of <br />receiving a Community-Based Health Care Project grant, which is funded <br />by the Kellogg's Foundation, and which would be a two year grant to <br />examine one health issue in the community. Grant recipients are to be <br />announced December 12, 1992. <br /> <br />Denise Wilson, 832 Smith Road, asked about the City's economic <br />development efforts. Councilman Oakes stated that he and other <br />Councilmen had met with legislators to discuss the Highway 58 project, <br />which he said was vital to economic development in the area. <br /> <br />William Edwards complained about the 20 minute on-street parking limit <br />in downtown and said that City Council, not the merchants, should be <br />charged with making a decision on parking limits. <br /> <br />Bruce Dallas stated that Council needs to help individuals who fail to <br />qualify for a mortgage on the Smith Lake Road housing project, stating <br /> <br /> <br />
