FRIDAY, AUGUST 21, 1992 A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Allan McClain presiding, was held Friday, August 21, 1992, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 9:00 A.M. All members of Council were present: Allan McClain, Mayor; George B. Adams, Jr., Vice-Mayor; Steve M. Draper; L. D. Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams. After the invocation, followed by Mayor McClain's cordial welcome to visitors present, in accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose of considering the acquisition of real property for public purpose, as authorized by Subsection 3. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, Council reconvened into regular session, wherein, by a recorded vote, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, discussed or considered during said Session. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved the following statement: In response to the Board of Supervisors' Resolution adopted yesterday, the Martinsville City Council has unanimously voted to reaffirmthe commitment to pay one-half of the costs of the proposed joint Martinsville-Henry County Judicial Center. Our commitment to this proposal was not contingent upon the Board foregoing the proposed referendum on this issue and, should the Henry County voters choose the Judicial Center option in a referendum offering the choice of this site and a County courts facility on King's Mountain Road in Collinsville, the Council's offer remains valid.
