114 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 23, 1992 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Allan McClain presiding, was held <br />Tuesday, June 23, 1992, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at <br />7:30 P.M. The following members of Council were present: Allan <br />McClain, Mayor; Alfred T. Groden, Vice-Mayor; George B. Adams, Jr.; and <br />L. D. Oakes. Absent was Clyde L. Williams who was away from the City. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor McClain's cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its meetings of June <br />2, 9, and 12-13, 1992 as circulated and amended. <br /> <br />Under Business from the Floor, Rev. Wayne Prunty, Rivermont Apartments <br />#83, appeared to present a petition and to express concerns about tree <br />limbs overhanging Fayette Street which he stated cause failure in cable <br />television service, and about a curve on Fayette Street which he stated <br />was dangerous. City Manager EarlB. Reynolds, Jr. said that he had met <br />with Rev. Prunty and had also met with Mr. Joel Amos, Resident Engineer <br />for the Virginia Department of Transportation, regarding a possible <br />project which would help to address some of the problems in this area <br />of Fayette Street. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br />Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose of considering <br />the following: (1) discussion or consideration of the condition, <br />acquisition or use of real property for public use, as authorized by <br />Subsection 3; and (2) an appointment to the Martinsville-Henry County <br />Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, as authorized by <br />Subsection 1.
