City Code: .o7 TUESDAY, JUNE 9. 1992 BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled June 9, 1992, that it does hereby amend Chapter 1--General Provisions, Section 1-11--Classification of and Penalties for Violations; Continuing Violations Generally, of the City Code, as follows: Section 1-11. Classification Of and penalties for violations; continuing violations generally. (a) Whenever in this Code or any other ordinance of the City or any rule or regulation promulgated by any officer or agency of the city, under authority duly vested in such officer or agency, it is provided that a violation of any provision thereof shall constitute a Class 1, 2, 3, or 4 misdemeanor or a traffic infraction, such violation shall be punished as follows: (1) Class 1 misdemeanor: By a fine of not more than two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00), or by confinement in jail for not more than twelve (12) months, or by both such fine and confinement. (2) Class 2 misdemeanor: By a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), or by confinement in jail for not more than six (6) months, or by such fine and confinement. (3) Class 3 misdemeanor: By a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00). (4) Class 4 misdemeanor: By a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00). (5) Traffic infraction: By a fine of not more than e~e two hundred dollars ($100.00) ($200.00). Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved, on first reading, Ordinance No. 92-10 amending Chapter 13 Offenses-- Miscellaneous, Section 13-40 Going-out-of-business sale permits, Subsection (d) Duration; additional permits, of the City Code. Mr. J. Ronnie Minter, Commissioner of Revenue, explained that this Ordinance is necessary to comply with changes to the State Code. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the following Resolution endorsing the Business and Education Partnership
