City Code: <br /> <br /> .o7 <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 9. 1992 <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session assembled June 9, 1992, that it does hereby amend <br />Chapter 1--General Provisions, Section 1-11--Classification of and <br />Penalties for Violations; Continuing Violations Generally, of the City <br />Code, as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1-11. <br /> <br />Classification Of and penalties for violations; <br /> continuing violations generally. <br /> <br /> (a) Whenever in this Code or any other ordinance of the <br />City or any rule or regulation promulgated by any officer or <br />agency of the city, under authority duly vested in such <br />officer or agency, it is provided that a violation of any <br />provision thereof shall constitute a Class 1, 2, 3, or 4 <br />misdemeanor or a traffic infraction, such violation shall be <br />punished as follows: <br /> <br /> (1) Class 1 misdemeanor: By a fine of not more than <br />two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00), or by <br />confinement in jail for not more than twelve (12) months, or <br />by both such fine and confinement. <br /> <br /> (2) Class 2 misdemeanor: By a fine of not more than <br />one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), or by confinement in jail <br />for not more than six (6) months, or by such fine and <br />confinement. <br /> <br /> (3) Class 3 misdemeanor: By a fine of not more than <br />five hundred dollars ($500.00). <br /> <br /> (4) Class 4 misdemeanor: By a fine of not more than <br />two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00). <br /> <br /> (5) Traffic infraction: By a fine of not more than e~e <br />two hundred dollars ($100.00) ($200.00). <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved, on <br />first reading, Ordinance No. 92-10 amending Chapter 13 Offenses-- <br />Miscellaneous, Section 13-40 Going-out-of-business sale permits, <br />Subsection (d) Duration; additional permits, of the City Code. Mr. J. <br />Ronnie Minter, Commissioner of Revenue, explained that this Ordinance <br />is necessary to comply with changes to the State Code. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the <br />following Resolution endorsing the Business and Education Partnership <br /> <br /> <br />
