102 <br /> <br /> TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 1992 <br /> <br /> A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of <br /> Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Allan McClain presiding, was held <br /> Tuesday, June 2, 1992, at Druid Hills Elementary School, beginning at <br /> 7:00 P.M. for the purpose of conducting a neighborhood town meeting. <br /> All members of Council were present: Allan McClain, Mayor; Alfred T. <br /> Groden, Vice-Mayor; George B. Adams, Jr.; L. D. Oakes; and Clyde L. <br /> Williams. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor McClain's cordial welcome to <br />visitors, Council opened the meeting to comments from the public. <br /> <br />Ms. Margaret Blaine, Stratford Square Apartments, stated that she did <br />not approve of the redesign of the Police Department, whereby access to <br />the Department by the public is restricted. <br /> <br /> ? <br /> <br />Mr. Davis Walker, 723 Grattan Road, complained about vegetative growth <br />at intersections which obstructs the view of motorists. Mr. Walker <br />specifically mentioned the intersections at Indian Trail and Beechnut <br />Lane and Grattan Road and Prospect Hill Drive. <br /> <br />Dr. Slaydon Myers, 1229 Knollwood Place, stated that a telephone pole <br />obscures site distance at the intersection of Parkview and Mulberry <br />Road. Dr. Myers also cited the need for paving of Knollwood Place and <br />asked the Council to consider establishing a separate "water only" <br />charge for those customers who have a water meter for lawn watering <br />systems. <br /> <br />There was a general discussion between Council and members of the <br />audience regarding Council's desire to see the new Henry County <br /> <br /> <br />
