TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 1992 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Allan McClain presiding, was held <br />Tuesday, March 10, 1992, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning <br />at 9:30 A.M. All members of Council were present: Allan McClain, <br />Mayor; Alfred T. Groden, Vice-Mayor; George B. Adams, Jr.; L. D. Oakes; <br />and Clyde L. Williams. <br /> <br />After the Invocation, followed by Mayor McClain's cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its February 25, 1992 <br />meeting as circulated. <br /> <br />Under Business from the Floor, Mrs. Mattie Spencer, 32 Jackson Street, <br />appeared to voice concerns over an increase in her electric bill. <br />Council referred this question to the City 'Administration for <br />discussion and resolution. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council authorized <br />City Manager Earl B. Reynolds, Jr. to execute a Deed conveying City- <br />owned property at 1005 Jordan Street to the MARC Workshop, Inc. Mr. <br />W.Ko Putney, Chairman of the MARC Workshop Board of Directors, and Mr. <br />Hugh Poole, Executive Director of the Workshop, were present to respond <br />to questions from Council regarding this issue. The Mayor explained <br />that several years ago, the Martinsville School Board deeded this <br />property to the City of Martinsville and that the School Board had <br />leased the property to the MARC Workshop for approximately 20 years. <br />Mr. Putney explained that the Workshop wanted to obtain title to the <br /> <br /> <br />
