46 <br /> TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 1992 <br /> <br /> Council accepted a written report by Acting City Manager Lance Heater <br /> on the status of the Solid Waste Committee which consists of City and <br /> County officials. Mayor McClain, who is a member of the Solid Waste <br /> Committee, noted that the Committee would not meet again. until Mr. <br /> Butch Joyce of Joyce Engineering comes back with a report for consider- <br /> ation. <br /> <br />Councilman Williams asked that the Council give consideration to re- <br />structuring the Commission on Human Values that was active 30-40 years <br />ago. Council asked that Mr. Heater and the new City Manager review <br />this, define the purpose of such a committee, and come back to Council <br />with a recommendation. <br /> <br />Mayor McClain inquired as to the status of the ad hoc committee study- <br />ing downtown, noting he had received a letter from the Chamber of <br />Commerce regarding the 1990 graduates of their Leadership Class and <br />their interest in commercial development. Mr. McClain suggested that <br />this information be passed on to the Committee Chairman Joe Philpott <br />through the City's representative Kevin Reed, Director of Housing and <br />Community Development. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and carried by unani- <br />mous recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session'for the <br />purpose of considering (1) a personnel matter under the jurisdiction of <br />the Council, as authorized by Subsection 1, and (2) a real estate <br />matter, as authorized by Subsection 3. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Executive Session, Council reconvened into <br /> <br /> <br />
