TUESDAY, MARCH 9, 1999 <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the' City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor <br /> <br />Mark A. Crabtree presiding, was held Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />beginning at 7:00 P.M. The following members of Council were present: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor, M. <br />Gene Teague, Vice Mayor, and Council Members Bruce H.T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell and Terry L. <br /> <br />Roop. <br /> <br /> Following his delivery of the Invocation <br />attendance. <br /> <br />Mayor Crabtree extended a cordial welcome to all in <br /> <br /> Council first considered approval of minutes of City Council' s meetings of February 9 and 23, <br />1999. These minutes were approved as submitted and amended, by the following vote, all members <br />voting: <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br />Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br />Nays: (0) None <br /> <br />Council next considered business from the floor. There were no speakers. <br /> <br /> Council next considered adoption of a Resolution recognizing the Lester Group for its ~fforts in <br />community improvements, thereby enhancing economic development oppommities within the City. Mr. <br />Brent Westwood of the Lester Group was present to accept the presentation of the resolution, which was <br />given for the firm's demolition of their dilapidated building known as the Jobbers Plant No. 3, on Market <br />Street. Council approved the following resolution unanimously, by the following vote, all members <br />voting: <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br /> <br />
