The Public Hearing was then closed. <br /> <br /> ; <br /> <br /> Council next considered adoption, on second reading, of Ordinance No. 99-2 amending <br /> <br />Chapter 12--Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Article IV--Stopping, Standing and Parking, Section <br />12-98--Unauthorized use of parking space reserved for handicapped and Section 12-103-- <br />Parking citation penalties of the City Code related to handicap parking violations. Chief of <br />Police David Edwards stated that the suggested changes to the Code would bring the City Code <br />in line with the State Code with regard to enforcement of handicap parking violations, and <br />increase the potential fine to as much as $500. Council Member Haskell pointed out the need to <br />be sure the public was adequately informed of this change, and good signage be provided in <br />appropriate places.
