TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 1992 <br /> <br />Council reconvened into regular session at 7:30 p.m. in the Library of <br />Clearview Elementary School, with Mayor Allan McClain presiding. <br />Members of Council present were: Allan McClain, Mayor; Alfred T. <br />Groden, Vice-Mayor; George B. Adams, Jr.; Clyde L. Williams and L. D. <br />Oakes. <br /> <br />After a cordial welcome to citizens present, Mayor McClain asked that <br />each citizen wishing to speak give their name and address for the <br />Clerk. <br /> <br />Marie Garrett, 933 Glade Street, thanked Council for holding the town <br />meeting in the northside area in order to give citizens an opportunity <br />to communicate with Council. Ms. Garrett offered two suggestions: (1) <br />complete the sidewalk previously begun on Barrows Mill Road which, she <br />indicated, stops half way up the hill, resumes to the corner in front <br />of Clearview Wesleyan Church and continues. She felt that the <br />~ompletion of the sidewalk would benefit the many residents in the <br />northside area who walk at this location, as well as the many children <br />who play on Barrows Mill Road. She further noted that at the point <br />where the sidewalk ends the traffic is heavy and fast, and, according <br />to Ms. Garrett, an individual has to walk in the street for about seven <br />houses before the sidewalk continues; and (2) deletion of the City's <br />quarterly newsletter in order to save money. <br /> <br />Councilman Oakes responded that money had been appropriated last year <br />to complete the Sidewalk at this location.
