212 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 12, 1999 <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting oftbe Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor <br /> <br />Mark A. Crabtree presiding, was held Tuesday, January 12, 1999, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />beginning at 7:00 P.M. The following members of Council were present: Dr. Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; <br />M. Gene Teague, Vice-Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H.T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell and Terry <br />L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following Mayor Crabtree's delivery of the Invocation, the Mayor extended a cordial welcome to <br />all in attendance. <br /> <br /> Council next considered approval of the minutes of their meetings of November 24, 1998, and <br />December 8, 1998. These minutes were approved as submitted, by the following vote, all members <br />voting: <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br />Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br />Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br />Council next considered Business from the Floor. Mrs. Thelma Pinkard thanked Council for her <br /> <br />paperweight for service on the Drug Task Force. <br /> <br /> Council next considered a presentation by Mr. Larry Aydlett, Executive Vice-President of the <br />Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Aydlett presented Council with a framed copy <br />of the "Wall of Fame" plaque, which recognizes persons from the Martinsville and Henry County <br />communities that have gone on to distinguish themselves in some area of professional sports, and <br />requested that Council have the plaque hung in a conspicuous location in the Municipal Building. <br />Council agreed to do so, and expressed their appreciation to Mr. Aydlett and the Chamber members. <br /> <br /> <br />
