TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1993 <br /> <br />In accordance with the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon <br />motion, duly seconded and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened <br />into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the possible <br />acquisition of real property for public use, as authorized by <br />Subsection 3. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member <br />of Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from <br />open meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and <br />(2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the <br />Executive Session were heard, discussed or considered during said <br />Session. <br /> <br />No action was taken on this matter. <br /> <br />In matters not on the agenda, the following items were discussed: (1) <br />Vice Mayor Adams referred to the City Manager a complaint from a <br />citizen regarding a fence behind the Spruce Street Post Office causing <br />a problem with sight distance for motorists at the intersection of <br />Sprucedale and Brookdale Streets; (2) Vice-Mayor Adams referred to the <br />City Manager a request by a citizen for installation of a traffic <br />signal at the intersection of Rives Road and Mulberry Road; the Vice- <br />Mayor noted the citizen was willing to participate in funding the <br />signal; (3) Vice-Mayor Adams requested that members of the Social <br />Services Board be invited to join Council and the School Board for a <br />special meeting scheduled to be held January 6, 1994 with area <br />legislators in order to discuss pending issues before the 1994 General <br />Assembly; and (4) in response to an inquiry from Councilman Williams, <br />who stated he had been spoken to by citizens on Fayette Street <br />regarding a perceived problem with homeless individuals living in the <br />City, Council asked the City Manager to present an update report on <br /> <br /> <br />
