TUESDAY, AUGUST 24, 1993 <br />closed, subject to its continuance at the September 14, 1993 Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />1.5l <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a financial report for the month ending July 31, <br />1993. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br />'Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose of considering <br />an appointment to the Pittsylvania County Community Action Agency <br />Board, as authorized by Subsection 1. At the conclusion of this <br />Executive Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only <br />public business matters exempted from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only those business <br />matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were <br />heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appointed <br />William W. Edwards, 703 Second Street, to a three year term beginning <br />September 1, 1993 on the Pittsylvania County Community Action Agency <br />Board. <br /> <br />In matters not on the agenda, the following items were discussed: (1) <br />in response to a question from Councilman Williams, City Manager Earl <br />B. Reynolds, Jr. stated that the City has no responsibility for <br />maintaining cemeteries within the City; and (2) Councilman Draper <br />commended members of the Henry County Public Safety Department for <br />taking first place in an International Rescue Competition recently held <br />in Richmond, which involved 44 teams from throughout the U. S. and <br /> <br /> <br />
