TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1993 <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br />Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing <br />the following: (1) acquisition of real property for public purposes, <br />as authorized by Subsection 3; (2) appointments to the Planning <br />Commission, Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, and <br />the Office on Youth Commission, as authorized by Subsection 1; (3) <br />consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7; and (4) <br />consultation with legal counsel (a separate issue), as authorized by <br />Subsection 7. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, Council <br />reconvened into regular session, wherein, by a recorded vote, each <br />member of Council certified that (1) only public business matters <br />exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed in said <br />Executive Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in <br />the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, discussed or <br />considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appointed the <br />following persons to the Martinsville-Henry County Office on Youth <br />Commission for 3-year terms beginning 2/10/93: Beth J. Baptist, 711 <br />Beechnut Lane; David A. Jewell, 1015 River Forest Place; Noel L. <br />Chitwood, 1505 Whittle Road; and Robin Watkins, 1446 Fayette Street, <br />#14. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council authorized <br />the City Attorney to bring suit to force a sale of the old hospital <br />property located on Starling Avenue to satisfy a judgment obtained by <br />the City on January 8, 1993 against Southeastern Health Care, Inc. in <br />the amount of $116,575.42 for back taxes. <br /> <br /> <br />
