The City Council has selected and hereby appoints Sands, Anderson, Marks & Miller, a Professional Corporation as the City's bond counsel to supervise all proceedings relating to the issuance of the Note and the Authority is hereby requested to designate such counsel for the same purposes. All other acts of the Mayor or Vice Mayor, the City Manager and other officers of the City that are in conformity with the purposes and intent of this resolution and in furtherance of the plan of financing, the issuance and sale of the Note and the undertaking of the Project are hereby approved and ratified. This resolution shall take effect immediately. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted and appropriated $850.00 received from area businesses to assist the Martinsville Transportation Safety Commission in utilizing the Car Guys Vehicle Operation Program at the Oktoberfest. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted and appropriated monies received by the Police Department for Federal Forfeited Asset Seizures as follows: $235.33 from the Virginia State Police, 8604.05 from the United States Treasury, and Sl,868.01 from the United States Treasury. Council considered adoption of a Resolution endorsing the Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association's entry for the Great American Main Street Award. Jennifer Dalla Vecchia, Executive Director of the Association, was present to explain that the Association would receive $5,000 if it received the Award.
