TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 1994 <br /> <br />Pedestrian Protection Program for the State of Virginia· Chief of <br />Police Terry L. Roop reviewed the activities of the Transportation <br />Safety Commission and other groups which resulted in receipt of the <br />award. <br /> <br />Council considered a report and recommendation from City Attorney David <br />B. Worthy regarding the collection of delinquent taxes. Mr. Worthy <br />recommended that Council adopt Resolutions appointing five attorneys to <br />sell several tracts of land for payment of delinquent taxes. Upon <br />motion, duly seconded and by separate votes, Council adopted the <br />following Resolutions: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular session held on October 25, 1994 that George Gautsch, <br />attorney at law, be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed, <br />pursuant to the provisions of S. 58.1-3966 of the 1950 Code of <br />Virginia, as amended, for a compensation to be set by the Court <br />pursuant to the provisions of either S. 58.1-3965 or S. 58.1-3969 of <br />said Code, to bring proceedings pursuant to the provisions of S. 58.1- <br />3967 of said Code, and, if deemed advisable by said attorney, pursuant <br />to the provisions of S. 58.1-3968, as well, of said Code, to sell for <br />the payment of delinquent taxes the following tracts or parcels of <br />land: <br /> <br />That certain lot or parcel of land designated as Lot 1, <br />with a street address of 930 Bethel Lane, which land is <br />more particularly described in that certain notice dated <br />October 21, 1994, from Bernice H. Smith, Treasurer, to <br />Samuel Henry Carter and Fannie M. Carter, a copy of <br />which notice is attached hereto and made a part of this <br />resolution as though it were set forth verbatim herein. <br /> <br />That certain lot or parcel of land on the south side of <br />Crestwood Court being designated as Lot 50, which land <br />is more particularly described in that certain notice <br />dated October 21, 1994, from Bernice H. Smith, <br />Treasurer, to Commercial Credit Corporation, a copy of <br />which notice is attached hereto and made a part of this <br />resolution as though it were set forth verbatim herein. <br /> <br />That certain lot or parcel of land lying on the <br />northwest side of Middle Street and on the southeast <br />side of State Route #57, and being designated as Lot <br />#11, which land is more particularly described in that <br />certain notice dated October 21, 1994, from Bernice H. <br />Smith, Treasurer, to Marvin M. Gravely, a copy of which <br />notice is attached hereto and made a part of this <br /> <br /> <br />
