TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 1994 <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters: (1) appointments/reappointments <br />to the Industrial Development Authority Board, as authorized by <br />Subsection 1; (2) investment of public funds, as authorized by <br />Subsection 6; (3) consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by <br />Subsection 7 (2 separate matters); and (4) the possible acquisition of <br />real property for public use, as authorized by Subsection 3. At the <br />conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified <br />that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting <br />requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only <br />those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive <br />Session were heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and byunanimous vote, Council reappointed <br />Josetta Thomas, 605 Mulberry Road, and appointed Naomi Hodge-Muse, 611 <br />First Street, to the Industrial Development Authority Board to terms <br />ending September 26, 1998. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the <br />following Resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, throughout the course of the last several years the City of <br />Martinsville and the County of Henry have worked closely to achieve a <br />Joint Solid Waste Management Plan which would serve the best interests <br />of both jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, specific actions by the City Council and Board of Supervisors <br />have established a public policy base by which the mutual existing and <br />projected solid waste disposal needs may be satisfied; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, both the City Council and Board of Supervisors are in <br />agreement that continued and specific joint solid waste management' <br />planning and efforts are essential to the successful future of the <br />Martinsville-Henry County community; and' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the continued practice of landfilling of solid waste for both <br />.jurisdictions remains an important strategy in the future long-range <br />waste disposal alternatives. for both jurisdictions; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> <br />
