3.37 <br /> TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 1994 <br /> <br />All members of Council expressed appreciation to Mr. Reed for his <br />service of over five years to the City on the occasion of his <br />attendance at his last Council meeting as a City employee. Mr. Reed <br />resigned from the City in order to accept a position with Henry County <br />as Director of Planning and Community Development. <br /> <br />Council heard an update on operations at the City Landfill from Earl B. <br />Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, in which Mr. Reynolds noted that scales <br />had been installed and that all charges were now being based upon <br />actual weight as opposed to estimates. <br /> <br />In matters not on the agenda, the following items were discussed: (1) <br />upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council asked the <br />City Administration to prepare a Resolution for the next meeting <br />regarding the Virginia Museum of Natural History which would support <br />State agency status of the Museum, continued state funding, and <br />continued location of the facility in the Martinsville area; (2) upon <br />motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council asked the City <br />Administration to prepare a Proclamation proclaiming a date in October <br />as Citizen Awareness Day to promote voter registration; (3) Councilman <br />Willjams stated he had received a report from a citizen regarding the <br />dumping of demolition debris at the end of Granville Street; and (4) <br />the Mayor announced Council would hold a follow-up meeting to its <br />retreat on October 6 beginning at 8:00 A.M. in the Boardroom of the <br />Tultex Corporation. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br /> <br /> <br />
