TUESDAY. JULY 26. 1994 <br /> <br />-Clearview School; March 28, 1995--Virginia Museum of Natural History; <br /> <br />June 27, 1995--Patrick Henry School. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a quarterly report on the investment of City funds <br />as prepared by the Treasurer. <br /> <br />In matters not on the agenda, the following items were discussed: (1) <br />in response to a citizen's concern expressed to Councilman Willjams, <br />Public Works Director Leon Towarnicki explained that the recent paving <br />of residential streets was not an asphalt overlay, but'instead was a <br />latex modified emulsion overlay, which has a different texture than <br />asphalt and which is more economical; Mr. Towarnicki stated the quality <br />of this overlay was acceptable for residential streets; (2) in response <br />to a question by Gloria Hylton, 402 Second Street, Mr. Reynolds noted <br />he would soon be conducting an administrative public hearing on the use <br />of the R.P. Thomas trucking terminal by Environmental Transportation <br />Services, a hauler of hazardous waste; (3) also in response to a <br />question by Gloria Hylton, Mr. Reynolds and Mr. Towarnicki provided an <br />update on the Second Street storm drainage improvement pro3ect; (4) in <br />response to a question by Councilman Crabtree, Director of Housing and <br />Community Development, Kevin B. Reed noted that the Massey Street <br />Community Development Block Grant pro3ect was in the pre-contract <br />negotiation stage; and (5) Councilman Williams commended the Police <br />Department for the community-oriented policing effort in the West Side <br />of the City. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br /> <br /> <br />
