.o8 <br /> <br />FRIDAY, JULY 1, 1994 <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of Sections 5 and 7 of Chapter 2 of the <br />Charter of the City of Martinsville, a special meeting of the Council <br />of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was held Friday, July 1, 1994, <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 9:00 A.M., for the <br />purpose of having newly-elected members of Council (Mark A. Crabtree <br />and George B. Adams, Jr., who were elected to four-year terms beginning <br />July 1, 1994 to membership on the Council at the councilmanic election <br />held May 3, 1994) subscribe to the required oaths of office, and for <br />the purpose of electing a Mayor and a Vice-Mayor for two year terms <br />beginning July 1, 1994. All members of Council were present: George <br />B. Adams, Jr., Mark A. Crabtree, L. D. Oakes, M. Gene Teague, and Clyde <br />L. Williams. Presiding at this meeting and administering the required <br />oaths of office was Ashby R. Pritchett, Clerk of Martinsville City <br />Circuit Court. <br /> <br />After the invocation by Reverend David Roquemore, Mr. Pritchett <br />administered oaths of office, individually, to Councilmen Adams and <br />Crabtree. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br /> <br />George B. Adams, Jr. to the position of Mayor. Mr. <br />administered the oath of office to Mayor Adams. <br /> <br />Council elected <br /> <br /> Pritchett then <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council elected L. D. <br />Oakes to the position of Vice-Mayor. Mr. Pritchett then administered <br />the oath of office to Vice-Mayor Oakes. <br /> <br />Council then considered the matter of its regular meeting schedule for <br />the 1994-95 fiscal year.
