TUESDAY, JUNE 28, 1994 <br />would fund two additional police officers as of July 1, 1994. In <br />response to a question by Councilman Oakes, the Chief stated that <br />Police presence in sections of the City outside of the target area for <br />the community-oriented policing program would not be diminished. <br /> <br />3,07 <br /> <br />The members of Council presented a plaque to Mayor McClain in <br />appreciation for his service to the community as a member of Council <br />for eight years and as Mayor for four years. The Mayor noted that, in <br />recognition of his efforts over the years to limit the amount of time <br />spent in evening Council meetings, he would present farewell remarks at <br />a press conference scheduled for 9:00 A.M. on June 29. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters: (1) consultation with legal <br />counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7; (2) a contractual matter, as <br />authorized by Subsection 6; and (3) the possible acquisition of real <br />property for public purposes, as authorized by Subsection 3; . At the <br />conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified <br />that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting <br />requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only <br />those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive <br />Session were heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />No action was taken on these matters. <br /> <br />Mayor McClain then declared the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> La G.
